John Krasinski

John Krasinski Movies

Because John Krasinski's only became a household name in the past five years, there aren't a lot of John Krasinski movies to speak of today. Though Krasinski is multi-talented, acting as director (he helmed an episode of The Office in 2010 and directed the big-buzz indie flick Brief Interviews With Hideous Men).

John Krasinski movies can be divided up into two categories -- before his hit TV show "The Office" and after "The Office".

John Krasinski Movies Before "The Office"

State and Main (2000) -- A comedic masterpiece by David Mamet, State and Main suffered only from a very short appearance by John Krasinski. Cough near the end of the movie and you'll miss him -- he plays an assistant to a judge come to town to depose a screenwriter played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. You can see Krasinski briefly, carrying the judge's golf clubs as he gets off the train. Krasinski is uncredited for this part.

Fighting Still Life (2002) -- Krasinski's first "starring role" comes in this student film short.

Alma Mater (2002) -- Filmed on-location at Harvard, this story of a professor having a gay affair with a student shows us Krasinski as "Flea Club Candidate #1". Very short appearance in a hard to find film.

Kinsey (2004) -- This Oscar-nominated film is Krasinski's first credited appearance on a big budget feature film. Krasinski plays "Ben", a minor role but with more than a few glimpses of his face on the big screen.

Taxi (2004) -- Krasinski in a Queen Latifah movie? In a weird way, it works, like eating cracked pepper with chocolate. Krasinski is at the bottom of the credits list, playing "Messenger #3". How many messengers does a movie need?

Duane Hopwood (2005) -- Though this film came out the same year that "The Office" premiered, it was made before Krasinski "got famous". Filmed on location in small-town coastal New Jersey, this movie's mostly notable for the comedy stylings of Judah Friedlander.

Jarhead (2005) -- Same story as Duane Hopwood, Krasinski filmed his part in 2005's Jarhead well before he made his appearance as Jim Halpert on "The Office".

John Krasinski Films After "The Office"

The following John Krasinski films occured soon after his popularity grew from being featured in The Office.

John Krasinski MoviesFor Your Consideration (2006) -- Krasinski is lucky he didn't land a bigger role than "Paper Badge officer" in this rare stinker from Christopher Guest and Eugene Levy. After the hilarity of Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind, fans and critics had high hopes for this eventual bomb. Krasinski fans would be better off watching Jarhead again.

The Holiday (2006) -- What's with John Krasinski playing characters named "Ben"? This film, a Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz vehicle, gives John a little more time on camera to show off his acting chops.

Dreamgirls (2006) -- Jamie Foxx, Beyonce Knowles, Jennifer Judson, and Eddie Murphy star as members of the 60s soul scene. Krasinski plays Sam Walsh, a fiction record company exec.

Smiley Face (2007) -- Every actor has to do a weed movie -- Krasinski turns in his version here. A forgettable movie.

Shrek the Third (2007), voice credit -- Krasinski voices the part of Lancelot, and is in fine company. Larry King, Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy, and John Cleese round out a celeb-heavy cast list.

License to Wed (2007) -- Krasinki plays a huge part in this odd pairing of Robin Williams and Mandy Moore.

Leatherheads (2008) -- A much overlooked romantic comedy set in the 1920s. Krasinski plays Carter Rutherford, America's college football hero. This is one of Krasinski's largest film roles.

Brief Interviews with Hideous Men (2009) -- John Krasinski wrote, produced, directed, and appears in this adapation of cult favorite David Foster Wallace's short story of the same name. A pet project that Krasinski finally released nearly five years after he started.

It's Complicated (2009) -- Krasinski stars alongside big names Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin in this drab little "romantic comedy" of errors.

Whales (unknown) -- Krasinski is listed on IMDB as "working on" a project with Drew Barrymore called simply "Whales". If you like whales or John Krasinski, go ahead and get excited.

John Krasinski's stock is rising in Hollywood. Hopefully his fame won't drag him away from cool indie projects (like 2009's "Brief Interviews") or raise his asking price so much he can only shoot Nicholas Sparks movies. This young talented actor should grace the silver screen for decades to come.
